Welcome
Thanks for visiting my website; I hope you enjoy your time here and I hope you visit often.
My site has no commercial pretense; it’s just the next step in a hobby, photography, that I enjoy a great deal. In the past, after going on a shoot or attending a workshop, I would spend a lot of time e-mailing photos that I thought my friends and family would enjoy seeing (sometimes I was wrong!). This became more than challenging and somewhat of an electronic imposition since photo files (even scaled down ones) tend to be substantially larger than your average e-mail and thus could potentially plug up an e-mail account.
Family and friends, alike, have urged me to develop my own site to make the whole process of viewing those photos much easier (and, more voluntary). Finally, I decided to take the plunge and this site is the result. But, before I go any further, you need to know (as if you already didn’t) that the technical heavy lifting was not done by me. Actually, it was done by a friend of my younger son, Craig. The friend is Don Cote from the Boston area. Don is a gearhead by profession (Web Application Developer) – he actually found the software we used and set up the basic template for the site, handled uploading the software to the host servers, etc. I did contribute creatively to the layout and features and uploaded all the photos to the site. But, make no mistake, without Don – no website. I want to acknowledge and thank him even though legions of you are probably cursing him for making it easier for me to inflict myself upon you. And, you might be even more impressed to know that Don uses this software for his own site and has solved software bugs that the active developers either couldn’t or wouldn’t solve.
Just a few more words and/or tips about the site itself then you can explore it yourself:
- Check out the various images for a title above the image. If you see an image with a title (not all have them) and it has a + sign in the title (“Marble Falls Farmhouse +”) it means the image is one that you should definitely click on to enlarge it. This will be especially true of all the images in the “Panoramics” album. Panos are designed to be seen in a larger size – try it, I think you’ll agree that the additional detail is worth seeing. There are images in almost every album with the + sign so keep an eye out for them.
- If you decide to “View Slideshow”, you can control the speed at which the slides change. The default is 3 seconds. To change this, look for the control at the top right hand corner of the screen. Since some images have a description or commentary beneath them, you may either wish to increase the interval to 5 – 9 seconds or take a speed reading course.
- You do not have to engage the slideshow program; you can view each image at your leisure and then click on the “Next” arrow at the top right. At any time, you can go back to the listing of all the albums by just clicking on “Doug Beezley Photography” in the upper left above the image.
- The “Search” function on the main album/gallery page works pretty well, too. If you want to see all images that either have the word “beach” in the image title or in the description, it will find them for you.
- The “New Photos” Gallery will let you know what is new in the past three months and give you the name of the gallery to check out.
- I would appreciate any feedback about how to make the site better. Just drop me a note at:
doug@dbeezleyphotography.com. Also, if you have any questions about a particular photo such as exposure information, location, time of day it was shot, etc. send the e-mail. Although there is a built-in function for image information, the process of downsizing an image for display tends to strip that information away. I’ll be happy to provide it to you by return e-mail. And, of course, your constructive criticism is welcome as well. Better not put this stuff on the internet if you don’t have a hide like a rhino.
- And, finally, all the images on this site are protected images and copyrighted to me, Doug Beezley. Unless I give you specific written approval you may not use any of my images in any manner whatsoever. Good, bad or mediocre, they are private property and belong to me.
Thanks for visiting. Now click here to see the album line up.
